14 Lab.
A student-led design studio at DePaul University’s School of Design, connecting students with real projects across the university.⎯⎯As Art Director, the work ranged from identity systems and environmental graphics to campus communications and digital experiences.⎯⎯Inspired by the modular thinking of the Nakagin Capsule Tower, the identity was designed as a flexible system that could evolve alongside the studio, its projects, and the students behind them.

Designing for everyday visibility.
The School of Design banner was created for D2L, the university’s learning platform used by students and faculty every day.⎯⎯The challenge was to create something recognizable at a much smaller scale while still representing the energy and character of the department.⎯⎯Simple forms, bold typography, and strong contrast helped the design remain clear across desktop and mobile devices.

Small pieces, larger conversations.
These giveaway cards and pins were designed for admissions events, information booths, and campus outreach.⎯⎯Rather than functioning as promotional material alone, they introduced the School of Design as an active, collaborative, and multidisciplinary environment.⎯⎯Each piece became a simple way for prospective students to take a part of the department with them.

Making information easier to explore.
Each degree program was translated into an individual information card that balanced quick introductions with detailed content.⎯⎯The system provides a consistent format across UX Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Animation, Game Design, and other programs while allowing each discipline to retain its own identity.⎯⎯Designed as both an admissions resource and a takeaway piece, the cards simplify conversations around the different paths within the School of Design.

Designing the spaces in between.
Beyond printed materials, the work extended into environmental graphics and presentation systems.⎯⎯The Graduate Research Lab vinyl was designed to give the space a stronger identity while remaining visible and legible from the surrounding corridors.⎯⎯Alongside the installation, presentation decks were developed to communicate concepts, gather feedback, and support the approval process for multiple campus projects.

Visible from both sides.
The 14LAB window vinyl was designed to communicate differently depending on where it was viewed from.⎯⎯The large graphic establishes the studio’s presence from the street, while the reverse side introduces “Student Design Studio” to those already inside the building.⎯⎯Considering both viewpoints allowed the installation to function as signage, identity, and wayfinding at the same time.

Continuing beyond the archive.
The projects shown here represent a selection of work completed through 14LAB.⎯⎯Many collaborations involved internal initiatives, research partnerships, and university projects that cannot be shared publicly.⎯⎯Together, they reflect an ongoing effort to strengthen the visibility of the School of Design through thoughtful, collaborative design.
